In late-June, I traveled to Bolivia with a group of serious wingshooters. It was a first time trip to Bolivia for many in the group. We were excited to visit a new lodge and shoot doves and pigeons in the lowlands east of Santa Cruz. Negative Covid test requirements and travel to Santa Cruz was smooth and without issue. With two back-to-back closed Argentina and Uruguay seasons, the group was ready to shoot as can only be done in South America.
We shot for four days and I must report the trip exceeded my expectations. The doves flew in waves and in numbers as great as I have ever seen. I was shocked. The lodge and operation is family run and our hosts were terrific. The accommodations were excellent as was the food. The service and hospitality were superb. I wish I’d visited this lodge years ago. On my next Bolivian trip I plan to shoot and fish. Our outfitter offers cast and blast trips – dove and pigeons for a few days and then off to the Amazon for peacock bass and a multitude of other jungle fish species.
I strongly recommend this Bolivian shoot for anyone that enjoys South America’s extraordinary shooting. Santa Cruz can be reached with a non-stop flight from Miami or via Panama City. To avoid hassles of traveling with guns, the lodge has a very large inventory of shotguns. This is a great trip!
