Hi Folks,

I recently joined three friends for a Tanzania safari.  For ten days we hunted in the wild country of western Tanzania. The massive hunting concession borders the Rungwa River and consists of miombo woodlands, flood plains, winding glades, mountain ranges, flowing streams and springs.  I don’t know if I’ve ever seen better African hunting country.  Buffalo live here in great numbers – big herds and lots of bachelor groups of old bulls.  Cats are numerous throughout the area and we saw lions and several leopards.   Plains game was common:  sable, roan antelope, hartebeest, East African greater kudu, eland, zebra, and more.  And we spotted herds of elephants almost every day.

Our deluxe private tented camp was East African style and reflected the original spirit of the true African safari.  The camp staff was superb providing excellent meals and service.  Our professional hunters and trackers were relentless in pursuit of big buffalo and plains game.  I remain mystified by the trackers’ skill and vision. The hunting was outstanding, and at the end of each long day we enjoyed sundowners around a fire and discussed the game seen and stalked.  The ten days in this wild African bush was the closest to the Golden Age of safaris I could experience.  Big bore rifles roared and our hunting party took great game.  Check out the photos.
